Caracterización técnica de mineralización para el proceso de conminución en el aumento de la producción de la planta de beneficio del proyecto mina Mirador Norte, provincia de Zamora Chinchipe, cantón el Pangui, parroquia de Tundayme.

The expansion of the Mirador Norte plant considers the production of 60,000 t/d (20 million t/a) from the Mirador I plant, increasing it by 80,000 t/d (26.2 million t/a). After the expansion, the total production of the Mirador copper mine will be 140,000 t/d (46.2 million t/a). Both Mirador Phase I...

Crynodeb:The expansion of the Mirador Norte plant considers the production of 60,000 t/d (20 million t/a) from the Mirador I plant, increasing it by 80,000 t/d (26.2 million t/a). After the expansion, the total production of the Mirador copper mine will be 140,000 t/d (46.2 million t/a). Both Mirador Phase I and Mirador Norte Phase II will use the same beneficiation plant and tailings management facilities. In the mining industry, comminution is an important unit of operation in mineral processing, ceramics, electronics and other fields, performed with many types of mills. Comminution is the most energy intensive process step in the mining industry, accounting for up to 40 percent of the total energy used in mineral processing operations. Field research was carried out based on direct observation at the Mirador beneficiation plant in operation, inspection, equipment measurement, flow calculations; thus, evidencing the most relevant background of comminution and crushing under study such as feeding, energy consumption (kW.h/ton); crushing and grinding and tailings management, among others; it is estimated that at least 50% of the energy consumed in a metallurgical complex is used for size reduction. The current status of the use of models in the crushing and grinding processes is evaluated based on the resistance to grindability of the ore. The scope of operation of the Mirador Norte project includes the increase in production capacity of the Mirador Phase I pit, and the construction of new infrastructure for Mirador Norte: mining, beneficiation and environmental management, auxiliary production facilities, offices and camps. After the construction of Phase II, the Mirador copper mine has a total production capacity of 46.2 million tons per year. The closed-circuit test results of the Mirador Norte mine laboratory process: copper concentrate grade 27.27%, gold grade 2.06g/t, silver grade 45.6 g/t; copper concentrate recovery rate of 90.69%, gold recovery rate 31.57% and silver recovery rate 35.65%. The beneficiation indicators of the Mirador Norte primary ore are relatively ideal, to continue with the copper, gold and silver production process in the expanded and unified beneficiation plant.
