Shrnutí:Environmental quality is a prevailing concern since its deterioration implies both economic and social consequences and policies, it is linked to the various production processes and the constant evolution of society. This research examines the impact of tourism and income inequality on environmental quality in Latin America in the 1995-2017 period, using a database of 18 countries, the same ones that were obtained through the World Bank website (2020), the Income Inequality Database (2020) and the KOF Swiss Economic Institute (2020). Through the use of quantile regressions, it was determined that both tourism and income inequality affect the environmental quality of the countries, however, as we move to higher quantiles, this impact decreases. The control variables used were globalization and urbanization, the first of which does not present greater significance while urbanization, for its part, has a negative relationship, that is, greater urbanization less environmental damage, so these improvements in terms of infrastructure can be carried out based on studies that contribute not only to physical aspects, but also to environmental care. This research is one of the few to use the quantile regression method for Latin American countries, a method that provides more robust results in the face of a generalized regression. The policy implications derived from this research focus on achieving sustainable tourism development, in addition to establishing fiscal policies that better redistribute resources.
