| Resumo: | This research paper called The Cuisenaire Rulers for the basic mathematical operations teaching-learning in the third grade of the Unidad Educativa Particular “San Gerardo” Loja 2023, has set as a general objective, to determine the incidence of the Cuisenaire Rulers use for the basic mathematical operations teaching-learning on the above-mentioned students. Its specific objectives are: to diagnose the learning level that the students have regarding basic mathematical operations; to design a pedagogical plan based on the use of the Cuisenaire Rulers to improve the students teaching-learning process of the basic mathematical operations; and to evaluate the pedagogical plan based on the use of the Cuisenaire Rulers for the improvement of the students teaching-learning process of the basic mathematical operations. The type of study is descriptive with a non-experimental design; it is a mixed-approached one, which allowed the understanding of the data and the verification of the results. The methods used were: analytical, synthetic, inductive, deductive and statistical. The techniques used were: initial and final evaluation, and the interview; as instruments: the semi-structured questionnaire. The population consisted of 17 students and a teacher. The procedures used were: for diagnosis, theoretical basis, tabulation of data, analysis and interpretation, elaboration of discussion, conclusions and recommendations. Cuisenaire's rulers are used to teach mathematical concepts in a visual and practical way, students can manipulate them to understand concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division; by using this material, we seek to introduce students to symbolic thinking and to the reading of symbols in a more accessible way. In addition, they encourage active learning and problem solving, allowing students to explore mathematical concepts for themselves, which can improve their comprehension and retention.
