Caries asociada al estado nutricional de los niños de la Escuela Francisco Terán de la Comunidad de Cañaro - Saraguro en el periodo marzo - julio 2016

This research aimed to determine the relationship between caries and nutritional status, a process that was developed with children of first-seventh year of basic education "Francisco Teran" Community School Cañaro - Saraguro. The need to establish a direct relationship between the type of food and the formation of cavities in children was the main problem to develop this research. The study was quantitative with correlational descriptive observational and cross-sectional approach, in which 29 boys and 24 girls aged 6 to 12 years old during the period March- July 2016 participated. To collect information for each child, index values caries CPO-D were determined, ceo-d, body mass index (IMC kg / m2) and the following results CPO-D index 2.9 (moderate index) were obtained, ceo-d 5.2 (high rate), 0 % malnutrition, 81.1 % normal weight, 13.2 % overweight and 5.7 % obese. Once quantitative data obtained we proceeded to establish the correlation between the index of caries and nutritional status using SPSS Program test Chi -square test. Through this program it was determined that the nutritional status does not directly influence the formation of caries (p>0.05).
