Opis
Streszczenie:Superficial mycoses are infections caused by fungi that invade keratin tissues, affecting around 20% to 25% of the world's population. The main causative agents are dermatophytes, followed by yeast-like organisms and non-dermatophyte fungi; the same that develop due to different risk factors. Therefore, the present study was proposed to identify the species that cause superficial mycoses, know the predisposing factors for this type of mycosis and propose prevention and treatment strategies. This study had a quantitative approach, with a descriptive-cross-sectional design carried out from October 2022 to March 2023 in which 87 people from the Victoria de Imbana parish, Zamora canton-Ecuador participated, who signed the informed consent and presented lesions suggestive of superficial mycosis. For isolation and identification, conventional culture, microculture, chromagar and KOH techniques were used. 88.51% of the samples were positive, and of these, 92% were onychomycosis. Yeastlike fungi were isolated more frequently, the most representative of which was complex C. albicans with 23%, and in the case of dermatophytes the most frequent fungus was T. mentagrophytes with 8%. Among the most reported predisposing factors were long hours of wearing closed shoes, and the most frequent work activity was agriculture
