Caracterización de los actores en la estructura básica de la cadena de valor y su participación en la formación del precio en el maní Arachis hypogaea l., en la provincia de Loja.

The present research was developed in four peanut producing areas in the province of Loja. The aim of this study was to characterize the basic structure of the peanut value chain and describe the activities of the peanut value chain actors. The data were collected through a surveys to peanut farmers, processors and merchants in the study área. Peanuts are considered a highly beneficial food grain due to their nutritional properties. However, productivity in the región is incipient, due to the low fertility of soils, for the high cost of inputs and labor, which raises the cost of production. The production process involves various actors who have an impact on the production chain. The present study, characterizatión of the stages or links in the value chain, identified for each of the actors in different stages was carried out. In addition the: production, processing, distribution and consumption, allowing the identification of activities of the direct and indirect actors that influence in the formation of peanut prices in each stage. Among the most important activities of the farmers we can mentione: pre-sowing, planting, crop maintenance, harvest and post-harvest, processing and marketing of production. Activities that caracterize the peanut production systems in the province of Loja. Key words: Characterization, actors, basic structure, value chain, price.
