Riassunto:The objective of the research was to analyze the relationship between the basic cognitive processes of attention, memory and reading comprehension in first cycle students of the Accounting and Auditing career, parallel A, with a quantitative, descriptive and correlational approach, with a non-experimental and cross-sectional design, to evaluate the cognitive processes of attention, memory and reading comprehension, the d2 test, the RIAS scale and the ICLAU instrument were used, respectively, these were applied to a sample of 30 students. To measure the degree of correlation between variables, Kendall's nonparametric Tau-b correlation coefficient was used and interpreted according to Pearson's linear correlation coefficient rating scale, the results revealed the presence of a weak positive correlation between attention and reading comprehension, and a weak negative correlation between memory and reading comprehension. It is concluded that the basic cognitive processes of attention do have a relationship with reading comprehension, accepting the alternative hypothesis, on the other hand, between memory and reading comprehension, there is a weak negative correlation, accepting the null hypothesis. It is recommended to design and implement interventions based on the findings of this research, strategies that strengthen selective attention, as well as techniques that optimize the efficient use of memory and in turn favor reading comprehension in university students.
