Izvleček:Although in recent years have increased health promotion actions, aimed at the early detection and control of prostate cancer, its approach is focused more on the practical aspect of the manifestations, signs, symptoms and treatment than in preventive action. Educational activities mostly unknown force of culture and beliefs as components of attitudes and the decision of practice of certain diagnostic tests. The present research work, it`s to establish the determinants of timely examination of prostate in users of the health center Aguador, Canton Machala period October 2016 - April 2017, Is a descriptive study with 150 volunteer men who signed consent ; we built semi-structured surveys which have 16 questions. The data were organized, tabulated and categorized. Participants were mostly 40 to 50 years old, merchants, married, primary schooling, rural origin, men who didn`t realize a prostate examination, men who realized a prostate examination by prevention, men who have used PSA, men have been done this exam in less than a year , they think that cure if it is detected early, we can have cancer without symptoms, If they feel good they wouldn`t do an examination, we can have a normal life, The treatment is worse than the disease, would treat the prostate cancer, Do not know the diagnostic methods, Do not know the symptoms, You should not have symptoms for a diagnostic test, Having the main barrier at the time of testing is the absence of symptoms. The latter derived from the high cost and low access to the specialized service. The Cultural barriers, economic and access to health services outweigh the perceived benefits of treatment, which is reflected in the low intention to practice the diagnostic test. Participatory education strategies are required. Key words: determinants, timely prostate examination, neoplasm, rectal examination.
