Resistencia bacteriana en infecciones de vías urinarias, asociado al uso de catéter en pacientes del Hospital General Isidro Ayora Loja

Globally, 5 to 10% of patients are hospitalized with infections associated with health care, 30% of these are preventable and 40% correspond to urinary tract infections, of these urinary infections, 10% are nosocomial bacteremia and two-thirds are associated with a urinary catheter. Ամփոփում:Globally, 5 to 10% of patients are hospitalized with infections associated with health care, 30% of these are preventable and 40% correspond to urinary tract infections, of these urinary infections, 10% are nosocomial bacteremia and two-thirds are associated with a urinary catheter. The objective of this study was to determine the frequent risk factors and bacterial resistance in urinary tract infections in patients with a bladder catheter treated in the ICU of the Isidro Ayora hospital in the city of Loja, carrying out a descriptive, quantitative cross-sectional study, The results determined an incidence of 7.69 per 100 cases, with an age range over 65 years, 45.46% (n = 5) was found; the sex with greater predominance was the feminine with 81.82% (n = 9). 36.37% (n = 4) had a history of Diabetes and the similar value for Repetitive Urinary Tract Infection and 27.28% (n = 3) Arterial Hypertension. The isolated microorganisms were Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Serratia marcescens, the antibiogram reported resistance to the antibiotic’s cephalexin and ampicillin/sulbactam, Trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole, azithromycin, ampicillin and nitrofurantoin. Finally, it can be concluded: The patients presented risk factors such as personal pathological history like those mentioned above (Diabetes, elevated blood pressure and recurrent urinary infections), prolonged stay in the ICU (more than 7 days), use of a bladder catheter and presence of microorganisms resistant to first generation antibiotics.
