Zusammenfassung:The sociocultural risk factors that cause bulimia and anorexia in the students of Pio Jaramillo Alvarado High School are currently an interesting point that gives rise to further health researches in order to give possible solutions to a particular group made up of teenagers. It is important to note that in this group the eating disorders they may have, impact directly on their behavior and attitude. That is why this study has as its main objective to identify the risk factors that cause anorexia and bulimia in the students of Pio Jaramillo Alvarado High School. In addition, this research attempts to determine if the media influences on teenagers’ lives and also it presents an educational proposal to prevent eating disorders. This is a descriptive research that is why a questionnaire about Influences of Aesthetic Body Model was used. It consisted of four factors for females: advertising influence, discomfort of physical appearance, aesthetic models influence, and social relationship. Similarly, for males the same five factors were taken into account and plus one more which is muscular appearance. The questionnaire was applied to 80 girls and 4 boys. However, students who have irregular attendance were excluded from this study. The results conclude that eating disorders in female teenagers are mostly triggered by certain factors like the social relationship and the discomfort by physical appearance. On the other hand, for boys was the muscular appearance. Furthermore, the media impacts on both genres especially in their personal concept.
