| Тойм: | Alcohol consumption during adolescence continues representing a global public health problem. Early initiation of alcohol consumption is one of the most important predictors of socio-cultural and health problems in the future. The problem is considered multifactorial in which social factors such as family, contributes to the initiation and maintenance of this behavior. The present study has as general objective: To determine the influence of family functionality on alcohol consumption in students of Superior Basic and Baccalaureate of José Ángel Palacio High School in Loja city, for this purpose, a cross-sectional, correlational analytical study was carried out. The sample consisted of 252 students between 12 and 18 years old of male and female sex. Data collection was performed through the application of a questionnaire with the AUDIT and APGAR FAMILY TESTS. To perform the statistical analysis, the chi square test was used, with a 95% confidence level, and a value of p < to 0.05. From the results obtained in the investigation, we determined that family functionality does not present a statistical association relationship with alcohol consumption, where the chi-square value, with 9 degrees of freedom is 16,469 and association coefficient of phi v of Cramer of 0.058. It is concluded that there is no statistically significant association according to the analysis of family functionality with alcohol consumption. Key words: adolescence, AUDIT and APGAR tests, alcohol, family. |
