Shrnutí:At present days, the increase in the automotive fleet, as well as the consumption of alcoholic beverages by young people and adults, and what is more worrying the fact of driving under the influence of ethyl alcohol, determines that many traffic accidents occur, leaving a toll of people with multiple injuries that are treated at the Isidro Ayora Provincial Hospital in our city. These are the aspects that determined the present research on the incidence of multiple injuries from traffic accidents and their relation to alcohol intake in patients attended at Isidro Ayora Hospital in the period from January to June 2014. This research is a quantitative, prospective and descriptive study, held at “Isidro Ayora” Provincial Hospital whose sample consisted of patients admitted to emergency service with the diagnosis of multiple injuries due to traffic accidents in the period January to June 2014. The gender most affected by transit accidents in relation to alcohol consumption in the city of Loja is the male with a percentage of 70.90%. The age group most frequently suffered traffic accidents in the city of Loja is between the ages of 15-25 years, which corresponds to 48.44% of all patients. The incidence of multiple injuries from traffic accidents related to alcohol consumption was of 18.16% of all patients. Keywords: Traffic accidents, intoxicated, multiple trauma.
