Samenvatting:Diabetic foot is a serious complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus that can lead to ulcers and amputations. This research aimed to identify the risk factors associated with diabetic foot by means of a systematic review based on the PRISMA ScR guidelines and JBI manuals, with the protocol registered at OSF. The search was carried out in databases such as PubMed, Redalyc, Scielo and Science Direct, using descriptors and Boolean operators. A total of 12 studies were included that evaluated the different risk factors associated with diabetic foot in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The results showed that the main risk factors associated with the development of diabetic foot are: elevated cholesterol and triglyceride levels, arterial hypertension, high body mass index (BMI), duration of diabetes greater than 10 years, diabetic neuropathy, age greater than 60 years, and presence of renal disease. Most of these studies were conducted in Latin America and Europe, and the populations evaluated belonged to hospitals and polyclinics. In conclusion, the study of risk factors associated with diabetic foot is essential to understand and address this complication effectively. The identification and consideration of these factors, both in research and clinical practice, are fundamental to advance the prevention and treatment of the diabetic foot in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
