description Since the First Industrial Revolution, the manufacturing sector has established itself as one of the main engines of economic growth, however, in the last two decades its participation in the world economy has decreased significantly, since in 1990 it represented approximately 24% of world production, while for 2019 it represented only 16%. For this reason, this research aims to determine the incidence of the manufacturing sector in economic growth worldwide and by groups of countries, during the period 1990-2019, adopting the first Kaldor Law (1967) as a theoretical basis. For this, data from the World Bank (2022) were used, with a dynamic panel cointegration approach and causality. In this way, it was found that, globally and in each group of countries, manufacturing production significantly promotes economic growth, in the short and long term, although it should be added that the effect is heterogeneous. In addition, a two-way causal relationship was found between economic growth and manufacturing output in low- and lower-middle-income countries, while in high-income and upper-middle countries, a unidirectional relationship was found, ranging from production manufacturer to economic growth. As a result of this, a policy implication, directed mainly at developing nations, is that their governments finance the adequate productive infrastructure for the installation of new manufacturing industries, since in this way, it will be able to promote industrial and economic development in those countries.
