| Sammanfattning: | Worldwide, cardiovascular diseases cause approximately 17 million deaths per year. In Ecuador about half of adults have high blood pressure, do not take medications, in addition to insufficient physical activity, representing a high risk for the development of arterial hypertension, a pathology that is detrimental to the quality of life of the population. affected. This investigative work was contextualized in hypertensive patients treated at the Motupe university health center in the city of Loja. The main objective was to determine the quality of life, for which a descriptive, quantitative, observational, prospective cross-sectional cohort study was carried out, in a sample of 99 patients, through the application of the quality of life questionnaire in arterial hypertension (CHAL). All data were systematized and analyzed in Excel. The results showed that 74.7% of the population presented a good quality of life and 25.3% poor quality of life. Chi square of marital status in relation to quality of life P= 0.042; OR between poor quality of life and male gender=1.923, OR between poor quality of life and age <62 years (OR=2.33). Thus, it is concluded that the majority of the study population presented a good quality of life. Additionally, marital status and quality of life have a statistically significant relationship, in addition, male patients and those under 62 years of age have a higher risk of presenting a poor quality of life |
