Čoahkkáigeassu:The purpose of the study: “Knowledge and use of contraceptive methods in postpartum adolescent mothers at Motupe University Health Center” was to describe the knowledge and use of contraceptive methods by adolescent in postpartum. Methodologically, the study was descriptive, quantitative, observational, cross-sectional cohort, retrospective and correlational. The sample consisted of 76 postpartum adolescents. The technique used was the interview and the instrument used was a survey on "Knowledge and use of contraceptive methods", based on the dimensions of structure, process, and results. The results of the study show that most of the postpartum adolescents (32.9%) were 21 years old, 52.6% had a high school education, 67.1% were single, 57.9% had a working occupation and 77.6% had poor knowledge, of which the majority used a contraceptive method (53.9%) during the postpartum period. The ages with the lowest use of contraceptive methods were 15 to 17 years of age. The most used contraceptive methods were hormonal methods 53.7%, followed by barrier methods 41.5%, natural contraceptive methods were used by 4.9%. The use and knowledge of contraceptives during the puerperium is related, since all the adolescents who presented a good degree of knowledge during the puerperium used a contraceptive method
