Резюме:The present research entitled METHODOLOGICAL STRATEGIES USED BY THE TEACHERS IN THE ALGEBRA STUDY AND FUNCTIONS IN THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF THE FIRST YEAR STUDENTS OF BACCALAUREATE OF THE EDUCATIONAL UNIT ADOLFO VALAREZO, OF THE CITY OF LOJA, ACADEMIC PERIOD 2018 - 2019, has as purpose to investigate how the methodological strategies used by teachers influence the academic performance of the first year baccalaureate students of the Adolfo Valarezo Educational Unit. The research responds to a descriptive-explanatory design with the use of the scientific, inductive, hypothetical-deductive, deductive, statistical, analytical and synthetic method. From the analysis of the data obtained through the applied instruments, it is determined that the teachers use oral review strategies of the previous class, resolution of exercises and sending of independent work of consolidation, likewise the record of grades results in that the academic performance of students according to the qualitative scale of the Curricular Reform of the Ministry of Education, are close to achieving the required learning, so it is concluded that the methodological strategies used by the teacher positively influences the academic performance of students, Therefore, the teacher is recommended to work more frequently with active and creative methodological strategies, which motivate the student to pay attention to the topics dealt with in each class.
