The present investigation had as a general objective to determine the factors that influence the nutritional status of the elderly in the San Pedro de la Bendita Parish and as specific objectives: Identify the socioeconomic characteristics of the elderly, characterize the nutritional status through the Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA) test, relate socioeconomic factors with nutritional status and design a psychoeducational activity focused on the eating habits of the elderly, this study was descriptive, cross-sectional and with a quantitative approach, the sample consisted of 50 older people, to whom instruments such as: the sociodemographic file and the Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA) test. The data processing was carried out using the statistical program SPSS version 26. In the results it was found that 42% have a normal nutritional status, 44% are at risk of malnutrition and 14% are undernourished. Likewise, it was analyzed that there is a statistically significant association between nutritional status and factors such as age, socioeconomic level and education since (p value <0.05); on the other hand, no relationship was found between gender, marital status, ethnicity, and health insurance.
