| Shrnutí: | Childhood is a transcendental stage in people's lives, since the experiences that occur during this stage will influence present and future performance: at the social, family and personal levels. For this reason, a healthy development during this stage is related to several factors, among them are: on the one hand, the way in which primary caregivers or parents educate their children, which leads to the application of certain parenting styles and, on the other hand, the socialization that children themselves have with the people around them, that is, the social skills they possess. With this background, the main objective of this research was to describe the scientific evidence of parenting styles in the development of social skills in childhood. A documentary literature review was carried out, with a qualitative approach, non-experimental design, descriptive cross-sectional. The research population included 115 scientific articles obtained from different databases, applying the previously established inclusion and exclusion criteria, 27 scientific articles were selected as a representative sample of the research, from which the following results were obtained: parenting styles have a positive and negative influence on the development of social skills in childhood: the democratic style favors the development of social skills; the authoritarian style limits and harms them, while the permissive style generates deficient social skills. To conclude, these results show the relevance of taking into account the influence of parenting styles on children's well-being, highlighting the need to promote adequate parenting practices that promote better social, personal and psychological development |
