| Resumo: | The present research project, entitled "Surrealist Sculptural Representation, based on the Myths and Folk Legends of the City of Loja", aims to develop a surrealistic artistic proposal in sculpture based on the popular myths and legends of the city of Loja. The project involved studying the surrealist movement and analyzing the symbols present in popular stories. In addition, a process of sculptural creation was developed using mixed techniques. The project employed bibliographic, inductive, deductive, and experimental research methods, through which theoretical concepts about surrealism and references from psychoanalysis, as well as historical information about Loja, were gathered. For the creative process, Japanese sculptors Moe Nakamura and Akishi Ueda were used as artistic references due to their expressive richness and the symbolic weight that their works carry. Additionally, an experimentation process was conducted using various materials such as jute, cardboard, cold porcelain, wax, black fabric tape, and galvanized wire. Through the personal reinterpretation of the popular myths and legends of the city of Loja, a surrealistic sculptural work was materialized, experimenting with various materials, in which signs are reflected that evoke feelings, memories, places, and characters that are part of Loja's history.
