| Čoahkkáigeassu: | Currently, one of the major concerns worldwide is focused on the increase in overweight and obesity rates in adolescents, associated with physical inactivity and dietary changes during this stage. Therefore, the main objective of this research was to establish the influence of physical activity on the nutritional status of adolescents of the upper basic level of the Unidad Educativa Fiscomisional Calasanz of the city of Loja during the academic period September 2019 - July 2020. A quantitative, descriptive, correlational and transversal study was carried out in 173 adolescents. Nutritional status was determined with the growth curves according to BMI/age, implemented by the MSP for adolescents aged 10 to 19 years, and the level of physical activity using the PAQ-A. The results obtained were tabulated in Microsoft Excel and statistically analyzed in SPSS. They reported that 58% of the adolescents had a normal nutritional status; however, 37% were overweight or obese. In addition, 36% maintained normal physical activity, 28% moderate and 26% low. When relating both variables, we observed that 54% of adolescents with a normal to intense level of physical activity had a normal nutritional status and those with little activity were overweight and obese. In addition, a statistically significant relationship was found between both variables (p=0.000), thus rejecting the null hypothesis, leading to the conclusion that physical activity has a positive influence on the nutritional status of adolescents.
