description At the Cole Station Ronca Tigrillo area of the Quinindé Canton, Malimpia Parish, a research work about the collection and identification of the Entomofauna of the African Palm was carried out ; the following specific objectives were settle up:  To identify the entomofauna of the African palm Elaeis guineensis Jacq. in Quinindé area of the Esmeraldas Province that affects more frequently in the root system, stems and foliage.  To apply direct collection techniques and the use of specific appeals such as: pheromones and food traps to the capture of adults: Lepidoptera, Coleoptera for the estimation of indices of dispersion of the most important pests in a period that includes the dry and rainy season.  To make the assembly of the collection of insects, for the Entomology museum of the Agronomic Engineering Career, which are scientifically identified at Orders, Families and Genres level. The studies covered the period from December 2013 to May 2014, starting with the direct monitoring in the field with the collection of specimens of plagues in adult state, larval stage and its breeding at the Laboratory of Plant Health: Entomology until the emergence of the adults and the natural enemies in case of parasitism found. In the study region there was not recorded high levels of population specific defoliating pests of the Palm as: Stenoma cecropia, Automeris spp., Opsiphanes cassina; and Sibine fusca; due to environmental factors as rainfall, which are superior to the average in the region. The species with greater presence in the catches made with sexual pheromone corresponded to Rhynchophorus palmarum (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) and between the defoliadores Stenoma cecropia; Automeris sp., Opsiphanes cassina; and Atta cephalotes. In the Group of potential pests, flakes of the Destroyer San foliage Signoret and the Lecanido: Ceroplastes floridensis. Were identified the biological regulators recovered from defoliating caterpillars corresponded to wasps of the Braconidae (Iphialaux spp, Brachimeria spp.), family and two species of the Tachinidae family were not identified. The estimated rates of dispersal with the specimens captured from different species using fattened traps with pheromone attractants food showed lower values in some cases and higher than the unit in others, they are indicators of a typical distribution for aggregative Rhynchophorus palmarum, and random for the foliage species . The collected insects are mounted in boxes of Entomological Laboratory of Plant Health: Entomology, Agricultural Area of the Universidad Nacional de Loja.
