Riassunto:The present research work entitled “LEGAL AND COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE LABOUR AXIS IN THE SOCIAL REHABILITATION SYSTEM IN ECUADOR” is carried out because article 203 numeral 2 of the Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador establishes that in social rehabilitation centres and provisional detention centres, among other plans, agricultural production will be promoted and executed, which has not been implemented in any way in the labour axis established in the Regulations of the Social Rehabilitation System as processes and programmes of social rehabilitation. The purpose of this work is to carry out a legal and comparative analysis of the labour axis in the national system of social rehabilitation. The purpose of this work is to carry out a legal and comparative analysis of the labour axis in the national system of social rehabilitation. The approach focuses on examining the relationship between the labour sphere and the comprehensive rehabilitation of persons deprived of their liberty. A descriptive-analytical approach is used to contrast the information obtained with the reality of the prison labour regime, in order to identify shortcomings and propose improvements applicable to labour treatment, both in its regulatory scope and its application. The study seeks to contribute to the comprehensive social rehabilitation of persons deprived of liberty, highlighting the importance of prison work in achieving this objective. The labour axis aims to guarantee the right to participate in labour activities, strengthen labour skills and competencies for persons deprived of liberty through public policies that derive in plans, programmes and projects between public and private entities, complying with numeral three of article 187 of the Regulations to the Social Rehabilitation System to optimise resources through the commercialisation of products and services produced by persons deprived of liberty, in addition to those produced through agricultural and livestock production to be implemented in prison farm programmes; as it is done in foreign legislations such as Uruguay, El Salvador, Colombia, Spain, Norway and the United States.
