الملخص:Inequality is a problem that has been arising over time, generating high economic and social costs. The concentration of income is evident worldwide; 26 people have the same amount of money as the 3800 million poorest people. In this sense, the present research has focused on evaluating the impact of globalization on inequality around the world period 1990-2018, using econometric techniques through the testing of the Williamson hypothesis (1965), in order to propose policies to reduce inequality. The data were collected from KOF (2020); World Bank (2020) and SWIID (2020). Also, to meet the objective of this research, econometric techniques were applied: generalized least squares (GLS), Westerlund (2007) cointegration model, cross-sectional augmented distributed lag estimator (CS-ARDL) and Dumitrescu and Hurlin (2012) causality test. It resulted that globalization reduces income inequality in North America, East Asia and the Pacific, South Asia. Moreover, there is long-run cointegration between globalization and income inequality. It was also found that there is no causal relationship between globalization and income inequality. In view of this, it is suggested that policies should focus on promoting greater financial development, incorporation of innovation and trade liberalization that contribute to the competitiveness of countries and improve the living conditions of the population.
