This study was carried out with the objective of determine which microorganisms are present in the cold light lamps of the dental units, to which part of it is the most contaminated, in the clinics of the National University of Loja, allowing to know if provides the necessary aseptic conditions to provide the dental service. This study was carried out before the dental care, during a week, three random days, Monday (clinic 1), Wednesday (clinic2) and Friday (Motupe). Four surfaces of the light lamp, handle, head, protector and ignition button were selected, which by means of swabbing and transported in stwuart medium, proceeded to the cultures processes for the identification of microorganisms. Sixty samples were taken and covered At 37 degrees Celsius on blood agar, and sabourand. Determinate that the head was the most contaminated part where 10% of the surfaces showed microbiological growth such as fungi; Aspergillus Spp 2.9%, Mucor 1.4%, Arthroderma Spp 0.7%, Antinomyces Spp 0.7%, bacteria; Streptomyces Spp 0.7% Nocardia 0.7%, and yeast; Penicillum 2.9%. The presence of microorganisms means that there is a lack of disinfection, and represents a minimal risk of cross infection, especially for patients with immunodeficiencies or uncontrolled diabetes, so a disinfection protocol was developed and socialized with the students. Keywords: microorganisms, cold light lamp, molds, fungiEn la consulta odontológica se prestan servicios a gran cantidad de pacientes, y durante los tratamientos realizados se liberan aerosoles que contienen microorganismos causantes de enfermedades, contaminando superficies aledañas. Este estudio se realizó con el objetivo de determinar cuáles son los microorganismos presentes en las lámparas de luz fría de las unidades dentales, y que parte de la misma es la más contaminada, en las clínicas de la Universidad Nacional de Loja, para de esta manera conocer si existen condiciones de asepsia necesarias para brindar el servicio odontológico. Este estudio se realizó antes de la atención odontológica, durante una semana, tres días aleatorios, lunes (clínica 1), miércoles (clinica2) y viernes (Motupe). Se seleccionaron 4 superficies de la lámpara de luz, mango, cabezal, protector y botón de encendido, que mediante hisopado y transportado en medio stwuart, se procedió a los procesos de cultivos para la identificación de los microorganismos, Se tomaron 60 muestras y se encubaron a 37 grados centígrados en agar sangre, y sabourand. De los cual se determinó que el cabezal fue la parte más contaminada en donde el 10 % de las superficies mostraron crecimiento microbiológico tales como hongos; Aspergillus Spp 2.9%, Mucor 1.4%, Arthroderma Spp 0.7%, Antinomyces Spp 0.7%, bacterias; Streptomyces Spp 0.7% Nocardia 0.7%, y levaduras; Penicillum 2.9 %. La presencia de microorganismos, significa que falta desinfección, y representa un riesgo mínimo de infección cruzada en especial para pacientes que presenten inmunodeficiencias o diabetes no controlada, por lo que se elaboró y socializo un protocolo de desinfección con los estudiantes.
