Accidentes de tránsito asociados al consumo de alcohol de los conductores de la ciudad de Loja, año 2022

Abstract: This Curriculum Integration Project was developed with the purpose of meeting the proposed objectives, such as identifying the factors influencing traffic accidents due to alcohol consumption by drivers in Loja city, determining traffic accidents related to alcohol consumption among drivers in Loja, and proposing an action plan to help reduce traffic accidents associated with alcohol consumption. To fulfill the first objective, general information was analyzed, followed by specific information from the 2022 Ucot traffic accident database, where the human factor was identified as the major contributor to traffic accidents. The causes were identified as alcohol consumption by young drivers, lack of experience, and road responsibility. To achieve the second objective, the 2022 Ucot traffic accident data statistics were analyzed similarly. It was determined that there were a total of 588 traffic accidents, of which 203 were due to alcohol consumption. Complementing this information with data provided by the Chief of Traffic Operations through an interview, it was found that male drivers were more responsible for traffic accidents. Additionally, the most frequent locations of these accidents were identified as Isidro Ayora, Pio Jaramillo, and Salvador Bustamante Celi Avenues. The most common type of accident was collisions, resulting in material damages, injuries, arrests, and fatalities. Finally, the third objective was met with the proposal of an action plan focused on providing training on abstaining from alcohol, drugs, or psychotropic substances directed at both non- professional and professional driving schools in Loja city. This aims to reinforce the knowledge of future drivers, fostering responsibility, awareness, and road culture.
