The objective of this research was to determine depression and academic performance in adolescents of the February 27 High School, period October 2022 - March 2023. Therefore, a quantitative, descriptive, crosssectional study was developed with the participation of 166 students between 15 and 18 years of age, to whom a data collection sheet was applied, the Beck depression test and their grades were requested from the educational institution. The following results were obtained: 12.05% of the adolescents aged 17 and 18 showed severe depression, 18.07% of whom were female; 40.96% of the adolescents aged 15 and 16 showed very good academic performance, 37.95% of whom were male; therefore, it was shown that there was no statistical significance between the two variables with a value of p=0.16. This shows that, although the students present a severe depression, they maintain a very good academic performance

This shows that, although the students present a severe depression, they maintain a very good academic performanceLa depresión en un trastorno mental que afecta la habilidad de enfrentarse a la vida cotidiana, puede presentarse en cualquier edad sin excepción alguna, siendo la población más vulnerable los adolescentes, generando en ellos gran impacto en la educación como es el caso del rendimiento académico provocando desconcentración, poco deseo de realizar tareas escolares, incapacidad intelectual teniendo como resultado bajas calificaciones. La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar la depresión y el rendimiento académico en adolescentes del Colegio de Bachillerato 27 de Febrero, periodo octubre 2022 – marzo 2023. Por lo cual se desarrolló un estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo de corte transversal donde participaron 166 estudiantes con edades comprendidas entre 15 y 18 años, a los que se les aplico una hoja de recolección de datos, el test de depresión de Beck y se solicitó las calificaciones de los mismos a la institución educativa. Obteniéndose los siguientes resultados: el 12,05% de los adolescentes de 17 y 18 años manifestaron una depresión grave donde el 18,07% corresponde al sexo femenino; el 40,96% pertenecieron a las edades de 15 y 16 años donde destacó el rendimiento académico muy bueno de los cuales el 37,95% corresponde al sexo masculino, por lo tanto, se evidencio que no existe una significancia estadística entre ambas variables con un valor de p=0,16.
