Samenvatting:The main objective of this study was to analyze the management of urban solid waste generated in the urban parish of Camilo Ponce Enríquez. To achieve this purpose, three specific objectives were addressed: The characterization of solid waste, considering household and non-domestic strata; the diagnosis of the current management of solid waste, developed using the criteria defined by Zaman and Lemhan through interviews, perception surveys and checklists; and the proposals were prepared through the analysis of the SWOT matrix, the problem tree and objectives based on the results of the SWOT. In relation to the first objective, it was determined that the average generation of solid waste was 0.48 kg/inhabitant/day, with a daily total of 2664.23 kg/m³. Of this volume, 58.18% corresponded to waste of organic origin, while 41.82% was inorganic waste. The diagnosis revealed problems such as the lack of separation at the source, the lack of use and recycling of solid waste, the absence of environmental education, non-optimized sweeping, collection and transportation services, and the lack of an adequate place for the final disposal of solid waste. Consequently, the implementation of environmental education programs was proposed; creating a plan for source separation; the installation of collection centers for the use of recyclable materials and the optimization of sweeping, collection and transportation services for solid waste. These actions are designed with the objective of improving the quality of life of the community and promoting environmental sustainability.
