Ychwanegu Tag | Crynodeb: | This following research study is intended to determine the level of knowledge and practices from the health nursing staff related to Biosafety from the Health Area Number 3 in the city of Loja. The study method that was used to carry out this study is descriptive, quantitative, and transversal; this is how staff was evaluated through data collection techniques as the survey. Following this the analysis and interpretation of data, which we found that the knowledge on biosecurity is around a 94% which corresponds to the standards and biosecurity measures practiced by health personnel/staff, the most outstanding are wearing gloves (74%), mask (57%), apron (73%) and hand washing (83%) also found that there is a handling bio-hazardous waste by staff. With the information collected we came to the conclusion that health personnel from this working area has the appropriate knowledge on biosafety standards, but they are not applied in full, either by not having the right stuff, or careless of the same staff working in this institution. As this relates to the handling of bio-hazards waste there is a good classification according to degree of contamination.
