| Resumo: | The practice of regular physical activity and healthy eating behaviors encouraged from early stages of life, constitute modifiable protective factors that influence the health processdisease, they are closely related to a reduction of suffering pathologies in the future. The purpose of this research was to identify eating habits and the level of physical activity in the students of the Lauro Damerval Ayora Educational Unit, in the period 2021-2022; with a quantitative, descriptive cross-sectional approach, with 160 students in the fifth to seventh year of basic education, comprising 56% (n=89) of women and 44% (n=71) of men, who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, in which two instruments were used: KIDMED Mediterranean Diet adherence questionnaire and physical activity questionnaire for children PAQ-C, obtaining that the female sex, 39.3% (n=11) and 37.9% (n=25) of 9 and 11 years old respectively, had optimal adherence to the diet; and in men of 10 years old, 42.1 (n=16) low quality. In relation to physical activity, in both sexes 49.4 % (n= 79) was normal, with a predominance in men 56.4 % (n= 41). When we related the two variables we found a statistical relationship with a value of p=0.05, with Pearson’s chi-square (x2 calculated=16.760 and x2 critical=15.507), we concluded there is an association between eating habits and physical activity, it is affirmed with the coefficient V of Cramer (v=0.228) that there is a weak relationship between the variables |
