סיכום:The first undeviating molar plays a crucial role since it determines the mastication pattern for life. It is a very vulnerable tooth to dental cavity, once it flares-up by the age of 6. It is frequently lost in children and the potential sequels of this situation include: overbite, occlusion loss, muscular activity variation; decrease in the mastication pattern, extrusion and tooth rotation in the proximal areas. The aim of this research work was to determine the causes and consequences of prematurely losing the first undeviating molar in children from "Luis Pasteur" School located in Santiago, a small parish sited in Loja; and establish the prevalence of prematurely losing the first undeviating molar. An observational, descriptive, quantitative, transversal and field study was carried out in children from 6 to 12 years, using an observation format and a survey applies to parents to determine the causes of such loss and study models took to establish the consequences. The sample was constituted by 98 students, boys and girls. The studied variables were: age, gender and first undeviating molar. The results showed a high incidence of molar loss in kids from 10 to 12 years with a 65.63%. The main cause was dental cavity with a 75%. Regarding the consequences of molar loss, for the most part was occlusion loss with a 31.25%. As a final point, from the sample under investigation, that is 98 children (boys and girls), it was determined that a 32.65% presented undeviating molar loss, being a very high prevalence rate.
