| Sumario: | SUMMARY Neonatal jaundice, most times it is a physiological fact, caused by indirect hyperbilirubinemia secondary to liver immaturity and dominance overproduction of bilirubin, and self-limiting benign condition, which usually disappears before one month of age. By this quantitative, descriptive, retrospective and cross-sectional cohort work entitled ETIOLOGY AND THERAPEUTIC APPROACH OF HYPERBILIRUBINEMIA NEWBORN IN THE MUNICIPAL CLINIC "JULIA ESTHER GONZALEZ DELGADO," the same which was a universe of 341 patients whose sample was selected taking into account the parameters of leaf data collection, the same consisting of: Number of HC, date of admission, gestational age, chronological age, diagnosis, total bilirubin, treatment received, of which 87 counted to inclusion criteria yielding the following results: That of the total patients, 53 had jaundice multifactorial, 84 received treatment as phototherapy, 78 were term infants with appropriate weight for gestational age affected, in 75 chronological age of onset was between 25 hours and 10 days in 46 was not associated with disease, and 83 there was a probable risk of neurotoxicity. The results were summarized in frequency tables and percentage for further analysis and representation in statistical graphics. Key words: Newborn, jaundice, hyperbilirubinemia, luminotherapy |
