| Summary: | This research had as main objective to characterize the attitudes, knowledge and skills that mothers have about the care and stimulation of premature infants who come to the University Hospital of Motupe. ( Hospital Universitario de Motupe). Had a descriptive study, with a population of 22 mothers of premature babies. The data collection method was through a previously validated survey. On the results, we found that 100% of mothers have a sadness attitude with the premature additionally impotence and anguish between the more prevalent. In addition, the 70% of mothers know about the care they provide to their premature babies whit the breastfeeding benefits, alarms signs, and genitals hygiene, in relation whit the know respect to stimulation the majority of mothers know techniques of stimulation, more than 50% of the mothers have skills about premature babies care whit the genitals hygiene, skin care and dress. A big proportion don`t have skills in the baby bath, feeding, nasal hygiene and umbilical cord. With respect to skills in the stimulation, all the mothers develop skills such as touch, singing and infant massage to their premature, but more than 75% not use kangaroo method, body contact with your baby as physical exercises, in stimulating their babies.
