| Sumario: | The current investigation proposes: to carry out an agroecological zoning based on a planning for the adequate use of soil in a property of the Catamayo canton, Loja Province; pits were carried out in representative places of the farm and the information was extended through drilling in the study area, among the properties that were analyzed are: texture, pH, organic matter, CEC, through the chemical and physical analyzes carried out in the laboratory of soils of the Universidad Nacional de Loja. The results obtained allowed the elaboration of the thematic maps, the area was georeferenced with a GPS, using the tools of geographic information systems. Resulting in the property according to the soil classification based on the description of profiles are inceptisols and entisols, with medium organic matter, a fine texture predominates (FcAc, FcAcLo, Lo, AcAo, AcLo, Ac) with 14.28ha corresponding to at 56.4%, followed by 10.74 ha of medium texture (FcAo, FcLo, Fc, FcAcAo) with 42.4% of the total area and finally coarse texture (Ao, AoFc) 0.3ha, which represents 1 ,18% and a practically neutral pH of 6.5 to 7, With the data obtained in texture, slope and climate, the zones were classified based on aptitude defining Agricultural Potential Zone, Agricultural Potential Zone with conservation techniques, Agroforestry Potential Zone, Forest Conservation, Ecological Restoration. With these results, the study suggests a proposal for land use planning with the implementation of productive alternatives in the short, medium and long term in livestock, forestry and agricultural components, in order to obtain sustainable production and minimize erosion risks. elaborating an agroecological zoning taking advantage of the potential of the farm with the climatic conditions of precipitation and temperature that oscillates between 772 mm year-1 and 20 ºC, which influences the selection of the crops to be introduced and their possible performance in the livestock field.
