Shrnutí:In recent years, the presence of canine endoparasites in canines has caused concern in the population due to the contagion and diseases they can spread. In addition, the lack of research in the Yantzaza canton on the parasites that infest canines and the lack of health care and management of pets have put the health of the inhabitants at risk. The purpose of this research was to determine the presence of gastrointestinal parasites and parasitic load in canines in the canton of Yantzaza because of the importance it represents in the health of pets and the close relationship with their owners; it can contribute with information to take appropriate prophylactic measures to reduce infestations among animals and from them to people. In the present research, we worked with 70 canines, obtaining an index of 65 positive cases for the presence of Strongyloides stercoralis; regarding the parasitic load, puppies were the most representative with 57.14 % (40/70) and a high parasitic load of 38.57 % (27/70). Using the Chi-square statistical test to relate the presence of parasites and parasite load with the variables studied, the only statistically significant variable (p<0.05) was the animals that stayed away from home with 87.14 % (61/70) and parasite load of 60 % (42/70).
