| Zusammenfassung: | Unemployment, understood as an imbalance in the labor market, is one of the determinants that prevents the growth and economic development of a country, in fact, worldwide unemployment stands at 5,4% Fernández (2021). That is why one of the factors that is related to this problem is the educational level of the population, since less than 10% of countries guarantee their full inclusion UNESCO (2020). Therefore, the world of work increasingly proposes new challenges that make it necessary to identify the importance of human capital. This research aims to evaluate the impact that education has on the reduction of unemployment levels in 24 countries of America, period 1991-2017. For which, the Generalized Least Squares (GLS) method is used. This allowed obtaining as a result that education and unemployment have a positive and significant relationship, so that countries invest in education, but the unemployment rate continues to rise. The contribution of this work is to contribute with the empirical evidence that studies the effect of education on unemployment, mainly in an American context. As policy implications, it would be necessary for the State to invest in improving the quality of education, through a transformation of the educational system and, in turn, joint work of both the public and private sectors, educational centers and families, so that It seeks to promote creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship and training for future jobs. |
