Sumario:This thesis refers to : NUTRITION AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN FIRST YEAR BASIC EDUCATION SCHOOL JOINT FISCAL "JUNTA NACIONAL DE LA VIVIENDA" IN QUITO , LECTIVO PERIOD 2013-2014 . Propositional GUIDELINES . The overall objective of this research was: Analyzing the Relationship between Nutritional Status and Cognitive Development of children of 5-6 years of the first degree of the Joint Basic Education "Junta Nacional de la Vivienda" Fiscal School of the city of Quito, 2013-20014 academic year . The methods used were : Scientist, Synthetic- Analytical , Descriptive , Explanatory , Inductive- Deductive and Statistical Model ; techniques applied were : The survey was developed and applied to parents of children in the first grade of Basic Education Joint "Junta Nacional de la Vivienda" Fiscal School in Quito , for Nutritional status is determined children . And Preschool Diagnostic Tests Author Cross applied to children of 5-6 years of the First Grade Basic Education Joint "Junta Nacional de la Vivienda" Fiscal School in the city of Quito, to establish the Cognitive development of children . From the survey of Parents with instruments drawn regarding the nutrition of their children for the purpose, came to the conclusion that: 93% of parents of children say they have a good weight and what size you are standard normal, 4% are underweight, overweight and 3% for which we note that most are within normal weight and size; Furthermore, 46 % of parents report that their children have a very good breakfast, 37 % had a good breakfast and 17% do not eat breakfast properly so your breakfast is bad; Also state that, 54% lunch very well, 31% have a good lunch and 15% have a bad lunch; at snack 85% considered it very good 13% good and 2% do not snack so most children have a nutritious diet suitable for their age. According to the application of Diagnostic Tests Cross Preschool applied to determining children's cognitive development, it is concluded that: 72% average score was Highly Satisfactory, Satisfactory 22% and 6% of Poco satisfactory.
