Summary:the theme developed in this research, refers to the methodological strategies used by teachers in the teaching-learning process for the development of skills with performance criterion num lock in the eighth grade students of basic general education national joint college of the parish vilcabamba vilcabamba loja canton 2011-2012. they delineate various aspects relating to educational to do this in order to improve education in this important sector of the country, as relevant research results, we find that the methodology used by mathematics teachers is a problem that hinders traditional methodology to develop skills and abilities in students and would not meet the primary objective, in which the student is forming their own knowledge and teacher mentor to the process. the investigation meet the overall objectives presented in the draft because he was able to bring an improvement plan according to the current curriculum and methodological trends are in line with reality without neglecting national guidelines and output profiles of students proposed by the ministry of education, as well as contributing to the present contribution to the improvement of education of young people educated in prestigious educational establishment in the parish of vilcabamba loja cantón. similarly, establishing compliance of the specific objectives of the project, because it determines the skills to achieve performance criteria in the signature of mathematics in the national joint college students vilcabamba, besides generating an alternative proposal for teaching of the subject, presenting guidance on methodological strategies for teaching mathematics and share the results of research in order to educate teachers and students about the importance of the implementation and use of methodological strategies in mathematics for achieving skills with performance criterion in students.
