Samenvatting:This research study determines the importance of financial education within the family economy. The participants of this study were the administrative staff of the Decentralized and Autonomous Municipal Government (GAD in Spanish acronym) of Pindal. In this regard, this study started by applying a survey to determine the administrative staff’s level of financial education knowledge. The survey was adapted from the questionnaire applied by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). It was necessary to carry out this study due to the lack of knowledge about personal finance within the family economy and the lack of application of financial knowledge in daily life. The results of this study showed that the administrative staff had an intermediate level of knowledge about financial education and that they were still unaware of some financial products and services. For that reason, a training workshop on financial education was held to strengthen the conceptualizations and behaviors in the administration of economic and financial resources. After the workshop was held, the administrative staff’s knowledge was elevated through the application of knowledge and satisfaction evaluation sheets, which showed positive effects since the participants of this study demonstrated a high level of knowledge about financial education. Therefore, the higher authority of the municipal government of Pindal should encourage the administrative staff to participate in workshops on financial education as a means to seek greater job performance and improve quality of life.
