| Sammanfattning: | In Ecuador, High blood pressure (HBP) is one of the main causes of mortality; in most cases it is asymptomatic. The purpose of the research was to identify the prevalence of HBP according to the grade, age group and gender; establish the main associated risk factors; and compare the risk factors of the global hypertensive population (hypertensive diagnosed and measured undiagnosed) with the non-hypertensive population of the San Sebastián parish. The study was a descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional study, carried out on 378 people (20-40, 41-65,> 65 years), and based on the "Clinical Practice Guideline of the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) / Society European Cardiology (ESC) 2018. A survey was applied, height, weight and blood pressure (BP) were measured for three consecutive occasions, classifying them into diagnosed hypertensive patients, undiagnosed and non-hypertensive measured hypertensive patients, resulting in sex female, a prevalence of hypertension of 61% and for the male of 39%; in women, the prevalent grade was Normal with 13.8% in ages of 41-65 years and in men it was isolated systolic arterial hypertension with 11.9% in those older than 65 years. Considering risk factors, the most frequent in the total population was the Body Mass Index (BMI)> 25 with 76.1% in hypertensive patients diagnosed, 79.6% in the undiagnosed and 60.5% in the non-hypertensive. The data show a considerable value of HTA and BMI> 25 as the main risk factor, which can be modified by adopting healthy lifestyles. Key words: blood pressure, risk factors, body mass index, physical activity. |
