La vulneración de los Derechos de las Personas con Discapacidad en los Centros de Privación de Libertad del Ecuador

This Curricular Integration Work is entitled “The violation of the rights of people with disabilities in the Centers of Deprivation of Liberty of Ecuador” in which the complex scenario experienced by people with disabilities deprived of liberty in our country is clear. This research was born with the goal of analyzing the diverse ways in which the human rights of this priority attention group are violated within the Ecuadorian penitentiary system, which over the years has been abandoned, having a negative impact on the protection and care of them. Despite the existence of a broad national and international legal framework that protects their rights, these are constantly being violated. The physical and attitudinal barriers in penitentiary centers, added to discriminatory and violent practices, prevent them from fully enjoying their rights. This research work also delves into the shortcomings of the penitentiary rehabilitation system, from poor regulations to precarious infrastructure conditions. To gather information that supports this research, appropriate methods and techniques were used, such as surveys and interviews with professionals and experts with knowledge on the subject, in addition to a deep statistical analysis and study of a ruling by the Constitutional Court, resulting in conclusions, recommendations and a propositional guidelines that together seek to prevent and eradicate the violation of rights of people with disabilities who are in the Centers of Deprivation of Liberty in our country.
