| Sumario: | This Curricular Integration Work was carried out with the objective of developing recreational games as an alternative for the prevention of childhood obesity in 5th grade students of the “Lauro Damerval Ayora” Educational Unit, Loja 2024; the study was conducted with a mixed research approach, a quasi-experimental research design and a descriptive and correlational study type. Several research instruments such as survey and body mass index test were applied to a sample of 24 students, 12 female and 12 males. According to the information gathered through the application of the instruments, it was shown that 37.5% of the students have knowledge about childhood obesity, on the other hand, in terms of the time they spend playing, 41.67% spend two hours a day playing and 37.5% stated that they are self-motivated to participate in recreational games. Based on the results, a proposal of pedagogical intervention based on recreational games was designed and applied, which consisted of 10 class plans based on the first curricular block Playful practices: playing and to play, followed by the application of control instruments to assess the BMI; to find out how these recreational activities have contributed to the children's health. Thus, concluding that at the beginning of the application there were students with little interest in participating in the games, they did not relate with the rest of the students; but at the end of this project there was evidence of improvement in the companionship, the level of participation in the activities, demonstrating that the recreational games improved their physical and mental health.
