Shrnutí:Photography is a key communication tool for transforming images of places into meaningful and powerful messages, reflecting the culture of the people. This research focuses on the canton Gualaquiza belonging to the province of Morona Santiago in Ecuador. A place with great tourist potential due to its natural wealth. However, the media available in Gualaquiza does not promote enough photographic information about its tourist attractions. The Facebook page “Visit Gualaquiza” of the GAD of Gualaquiza tries to attract national and international tourism through the dissemination of visual content. This research highlights the importance of professional photography for a correct tourism promotion, technically analyzing the images published on the page in order to verify whether they promote the promotion of the tourist attractions of the canton. A mixed methodology was applied with qualitative techniques such as observation and interviews, in addition to the presentation of quantitative data. This applied to the photographs published on the “Visit Gualaquiza” page from July 2023 to February 2024 and the interviews applied to the team of Communication Department of the GAD of Gualaquiza. This research highlights the need for clear communication strategies and the publication of technically correct images with the inclusion of accurate information in the publications to attract the target audience. The descriptive scopes of this study help to understand the importance of well-defined communication strategies and the professionalization of photography in tourism promotion. In addition, it offers guidelines for future studies on the use of photography in various fields, highlighting how tourists, by sharing photos, can powerfully influence destination selection. The conclusions highlight the importance of promoting tourist attractions through an effective communication plan contributing directly to the social, cultural and economic development of the Gualaquiza canton, thus attracting tourism and enhancing the growth of the region.
