Summary:The aim of this study was to study the influence of prenatal education on detection of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy in pregnant population that comes to prenatal care in the Health Center No. 2 “Hugo Guillermo Gonzalez “Loja. August – September 2013 in order to obtain reliable data, real and current Considering its prevalence is essential to address in a timely manner those patients who are considered at risk for this problem and strengthen prenatal education. Pregnant women during prenatal checkups should acquire the necessary knowledge of the signs and symptoms of toxemia alarm to catch it early. A descriptive study was conducted using questionnaires in 80 pregnant women and it was observed that most patients are between 21 and 30 years old, housewives, they all have had at least 3 antenatal care and that a large percentage of patients are unaware of the signs and symptoms of alarm, in addition, it was determined that the majority of the study population identifies 2 or 4 alarm signs or symptoms and the symptoms that the disease was related to headache, edema of feet and face. The 25 % of patients have a family history of preeclampsia. It was also found that 70 % of patients who had had previous pregnancies had no problems hypertensive pregnancy. In addition, many of them have as a source of health information to staff and internet, but information quality is not ideal although their main source was the medical staff.
