Sumari:The nursing care process (NCP) is a systematic, dynamic and interactive method that allows nursing professionals to offer a care plan according to the needs of each patient, family or community based on the 5 stages that are: assessment, diagnosis, planning, execution and evaluation. The present research was a study with a quantitative approach of a descriptive and cross-sectional type; whose objective was to evaluate the level of knowledge and the application of the nursing process in the Emergency and Surgery areas of the Hospital Manuel Ygnacio Montero. A questionnaire and a checklist were used as instruments, which have a validity of 0.789 according to the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient, these were applied to a sample of 37 Nursing professionals, the type of sampling that was employed in this investigation was simple random probabilistic. The results obtained permit to demonstrate the sociodemographic characteristics of the study group, determining that 48.6% are in an age range of 31 to 40 years, 97.3% are female, 35.2% have work experience between 6 to 10 years and with regard to complementary studies, 16.2% possess a fourth level degree. There is an average level of expertise of the Nursing Care Process of 45.9% by the respondents, in the same way establishing that the level of application of the NCP is low by 43.3%. Among the factors involved in the non-application of the Nursing Process is the workload and lack of materials. It was concluded that the professionals have a medium level of knowledge while the level of application of the Nursing Care Process is low
