Тойм:This research study was carried out in Pachicutza Parish, El Pangui Canton, in order to diagnose the presence of subclinical mastitis by the method of California Mastitis Test (CMT) and the record of mesophilic colony forming units (CFUS) of milk samples obtained from farms in this parish. The study-field was carried out in 88 farms in Pachicutza parish with a population of 237 cows in production, to which it was applied the California Mastitis Test (CMT). The laboratory analysis was carried out in the laboratory of Integral diagnosis of the National University of Loja; where were analyzed 88 milk samples obtained from farms in this parish. A total of 237 animals analyzed in Pachicutza parish where the prevalence of subclinical mastitis is 65.4% diagnosed by the California Mastitis Test. The highest percentage of subclinical mastitis was shown in the following neighborhoods: San Francisco with 100%, San Roque with 100% and Buena Fe with 93% and the area that show less prevalence is Pachicutza with 43%. Related to the prevalence of subclinical mastitis by age; the most susceptible are the animals from 5 years onwards with 65.38% this is an alteration that occurs on the nipples when aging and a lower tendency to cure due to the decrease of defenses. Finally, of the 68 samples analyzed in the laboratory (counting of mesophiles), 100% were suitable for consumption according to what was suggested by the INEN standard (No. 9) Key words: Subclinical Mastitis, California Mastitis Test, colony forming units (CFUS).
