However, by the characteristics of adolescence characteristics, the influence of this medium takes a preponderant way by the speed of response and exploratory capacity deployed, it is for them that teenagers are the consumer par excellence not only Internet but the multimedia technology products, surfing and chatting from the cell as they have a strong technological adaptability and managed almost intuitively with new devices have great ability to move from one technology to another because they have logic and common patterns. This research emphasizes the inappropriate use by young people of the internet and its influence on academic performance, so that teenagers spend extensive hours of use, using it as a communicative medium of interaction and fun, neglecting aspects in education consequently resulting in poor academic performance. Thus was determined through research that the internet if negative effect on academic performance, thus fulfilling the second specific objective. And after this draft a proposal for action that was designed with the help of teachers and parents, who gave alternative interventions to assist the problem, aimed at raising awareness of learners for proper use of this technological medium, thus fulfilling the overall objective. The methodology used in the research was the scientific, inductive, deductive, statistical and descriptive method, allowing to determine the problem under study, identifying the influence of the Internet on academic performance, and after that sort the results achieved, which they were collected by applying the technique of the survey and subsequent to that issue conclusions and recommendations. 5 Among the main findings of this research with the application of the technique of the survey, aimed at teachers, students and parents it is that young people do not make proper use of this technological medium and using it as an interactive medium and fun, rather than education, which brings poor academic performance in students. This is because they have no knowledge about the advantages and disadvantages that entails use, another problem is how easy it is to access social networks through the wireless internet that currently exists another cause for the existence of a inadecuando use of the Internet is that there is no control by parents due to lack of knowledge of the technology and the limited time so they spend most hours spent in his work neglecting really important aspects as it is communication between parents and children, sharing leisure activities, preventing them from having control in their use of the internet their children. It culminated in the research, you make the following findings that improper use of the internet results in low academic achievement in students of third years of high school, recommending that control is maintained by parents in the use give their children to the Internet, students engaged in activities that allow them to gain a better preparation, within the educational environment, consequently resulting in an excellent academic performance. |
