Sumario:The present study aims to know the predisposing factors in teenage pregnancy in urban and rural area of Loja city. This is a descriptive, analytical, bibliographic study and fieldwork, where the population is made up of the teenagers at the age of 10 to 19 years old, who are in gestation treated at the Motupe Hospital and Health Sub-Center Nro.1, taking as sample 60 adolescent girls in the period of September 2012 to February 2013 It was possible to determine the predisposing factors by applying a poll through a questionary. According to the results, was found that that 65% of adolescents had situations of displacement or migration of one or both parents, related with a 51.6% of young girls who are part of single parent family and a 35% who live without any of their parents, a 71.7% had had some type of abuse 60% started menarche at the age of 10-12 years, a 45% had not used any contraceptive method, a 85% have no knowledge of the appropriate age for pregnancy, 45% of teenagers started sex between 15 and 16 years, 65% of teens indicated they have no financial resources to care for their health, and 48% do not have sufficient financial resources to provide basic household needs in their homes.
