Summary:This research work is entitled: The use of concrete didactic material as an alternative strategy for the teaching of Mathematics in fundamental operations, in the third grade of the school of EGB Luis Humberto Benítez Costa, period 2017 - 2018; the general objective is to apply alternative strategies with concrete didactic material in the teaching-learning of mathematics in the fundamental operations to improve the academic performance of the children of the third degree of the school of EGB Luis Humberto Benítez Costa; the type of study is descriptive; the methods used were: the descriptive, the observational, the analytical, the synthetic, the inductive and deductive; the techniques are observation and survey and, as instruments, the observation guide and the questionnaire. The research contributed to verify the importance of the concrete material in mathematics; the population with which we worked was with third grade children; concluding that concrete materials are necessary, especially in the first years of study.
