Izvleček:Eating disorders are related to low self-esteem, affecting mainly adolescents, the female sex is a risk factor. The purpose of this research was to determine the level of self-esteem, to identify the presence of eating disorders according to sex and age groups and to evaluate the correlation between both variables in high school adolescents of Unidad Educativa Fiscomisional "Santiago Fernández García" of Cariamanga city. It was develop using a quantitative approach, cross-sectional, with a sample of 216 students to whom the Rossemberg Scale and Eating Attitudes Test 26 questionnaires were applied. Obtaining that 85.65% (n=185) presented low self-esteem, of which 46.76% (n=101) were female and 38.89% (n=84) male, predominantly between 15 and 19 years of age. As for eating disorders, 16.20% (n=35) of those evaluated were in a high-risk category, of which 8.80% (n=19) were female and 7.41% (n=19) were male. females and 7.41% (n=16) males, with a predominance of the 15-19 age group. When relating the variables variables by calculating Chi-square, a statistically significant relationship was found with a value of p=0.022 was found, concluding that the level of self-esteem indirectly influences the risk of eating disorders
